On Wed. May 19, 2010 Chief Raymond Donovan, Co-Chief John Burton, and Sec/Treas Donna Foster met with MP Mark Eyking.
The meeting was a positive one with Mr. Eyking being more that eager to assist us. After showing Mr. Eyking a letter of response from Minister of Indian Affairs, Mr. Chuck Strahl supporting our vision and contacting us with Mr. Mark Davis, Indian Affairs Representative, Atlantic Division, Mr. Eyking is contacting Mr. Strahl and Mr. Davis on our behalf and arranging a meeting with the Atlantic Rep as soon as possible.
He did state that looking for Indian Status, and Band recognition are two different issues, we are more than happy to establish our Status first by representing over 1,100 members from various families from the area.
We are doing our homework now to prepare for our meeting with Mark Davis. We are hopeful we will be able to present to you, our members some new information on our progress.
Elders Elva MacNeil and Cathy Hickey were also present and met Mr. Eyking also.
